German company supports initiative to protect content owners’ rights / sevenload promotes user generated content

Cologne, June 16, 2008 - Digital content rules. Web-TV users are constantly confronted by the challenging gray zone between legal and illegal content. In an effort to protect content owners’ rights and to support the production of original works on the web, sevenload has joined the “User Generated Content Principles” initiative. Through this, sevenload is solidifying its role as the leading independent platform for legal Web 2.0 video content on the European web TV market.

“sevenload believes in the significance of this cooperation. By confirming to protect the rights of copyright owners, we incur an important commitment towards our content partners. Users will consider sevenload a capable counterpart, as they benefit from our technology which protects them from copyright violation”, explains Jeff Coe, sevenload’s Director of International.

sevenload is the first German company to join the world’s leading media companies such as Walt Disney, Microsoft, Fox Entertainment, Viacom, CBS and NBC Universal in protecting copyright claims of content owners. Furthermore, the potential of user generated web TV content is preserved by setting up the principles in creating and distributing original content on the web.

“We promote the originality of content and establish a new kind of thinking between established and professional content owners, and independent producers of niche content, user generated videos, newcomers and talents“, says Coe.

The “UGC Principles” enhance communication between platform hosts and content owners. By joining this initiative, sevenload will be launching a platform campaign at www.sevenload.com that easily explains the ideas and technical mechanisms to the users. Further information about the initiative “UGC Principles” can be found at www.ugcprinciples.com.
